Music is an integral part of the identity of First Community. The goal of Worship and Arts ministry is to create an environment in which each person may find a meaningful expression of faith. We provide the congregation‘s central activity of worship and all that concerns worship, including music, the visual arts, ushering, bulletins, special services, sanctuary decoration, the concert series, art displays, and interior design of the church facilities.

Chancel Choir (High School and above)
The Chancel Choir, directed by C. Andrew Blosser, is an ensemble of professional and volunteer choristers who sing weekly at the 11 am Sunday morning service, for special concerts and services, and at the annual MorningSong, Soli Deo Gloria, WinterSong, and other special services. They rehearse each Thursday from 7:30 - 9:30 pm at First Community North.
Cambridge Choir (High School and above)
The Cambridge Choir, directed by Amy Blosser, is an ensemble of professional and volunteer choristers who sing weekly at the 10 am Sunday morning service, and for special services and projects. They rehearse on the first Thursday of the month, in addition to every Sunday morning at 9 am at First Community South.
Marble Cliff Singers (High School and above)
The Marble Cliff Singers, directed by C. Andrew Blosser and Amy Blosser, is an ensemble comprising professional and volunteer singers from the Cambridge and Chancel Choirs, to provide music for special projects during Lent and Advent.
Youth Choirs
Directed by Lori Walls, children in K-8 grade gather on Wednesday evenings to rehearse for vocal and bell choir.
Whitechapel Bell Choir (High School and above)
Rehearsals are Tuesdays, 6 - 7:30 pm. The Whitechapel Ringers ring in the services once a month from September to June.
Worship Band
Common Grace Band
Provides music for the 9 am worship service in Grace Hall.
Friends of Music
The contributions to Friends of First Community Church Music make up approximately two-thirds of the funds for the Concert Series events. This help, plus the offerings at the events, forms the entire budget. Friends of First Community Church Music provides support for:
Annual Concert Series
Exceptional musical events, including the Candlelight Christmas Concert, pops programs, visiting choirs, instrumental and vocal guest soloists and chamber music performances.
Special Sunday Services
Major musical services with orchestra, including Soli Deo Gloria, Requiems during the season of Lent, the summer MorningSong services, and assisting with the orchestral budget for Christmas Eve.
Special Music Broadcasts on First Edition
Each time the choir and orchestra appear as part of First Edition broadcasts of special music presentations, Friends of Music pays the extra fees to the orchestra for broadcast privileges.
Production Expenses
Design, printing, and mailing of publicity materials, advertising, orchestral and chorus music rental, music stands, production of the printed program, special music equipment, sound and recording engineer and rental of extra lighting.
