Rev. James M. Long
Minister of Pastoral Care
Office: (614) 488-0681, ext. 240
I grew up in Columbus, Ohio at First Community where my parents and grandparents were members. After 15 years in the legal profession, I attended the Methodist Theological School in Ohio (MTSO). Following graduation, I was ordained at the church by the United Church of Christ. I was an active lay person at the church and an occasional student at the seminary, where I discerned my call to ministry.
I lived and worked in Washington, D.C. after law school, where I met my wife Clare at National Presbyterian Church. This is the only church to which I’ve belonged, other than First Community. I have traveled to the Holy Land twice, as well as other places around the world. Travel and sightseeing remain a passion. I also have a passion for reading and collecting books and sports memorabilia. My books reflect my interest in history, theology, law, literature, and sports. My wonderful children, Elizabeth Downey and Jimmy Long, are the fourth generation of my family to belong to the church.
