Women’s Guild Group V has arranged for acclaimed musician, singer, storyteller, and author John David Morgan to perform for the women of First Community on Friday, March 13, in Wing Grace Hall, from 9:30 to 11:00 am.
John Morgan is an acoustic guitarist living in central Ohio who has spent his career performing, teaching, writing, and recording music. He has released 12 CDs, two instructional DVDs, and authored Foundations for Great Guitar Playing, a book and CD for beginning and intermediate guitarists.
Early in his career, John was invited into a different kind of musical calling when he began playing for cancer patients. What started as a small invitation became deeply meaningful work, as he discovered that the intimacy of a hallway, lobby, or patient’s room could become a powerful space for musical and personal connection. Through these experiences, he saw how music can become a healing balm, reaching beyond entertainment to awaken memories, lift spirits, and offer hope and comfort.
These experiences led John to serve as the OhioHealth Artist in Residence from 2001 to 2022, where he regularly performed for oncology patients. His book, Notes in the Key of C: Tuning into Cancer, Tuning into Hope, reflects on his years of bringing music into places of vulnerability and courage, celebrating the everyday bravery of people we encounter all around us.
At the March 13 performance, John will sing, play music, and share stories from his journey and the hope they continue to offer. All women of the church are invited. This event is free, no registration is required, and we hope you will mark your calendar and plan to attend.
