Baptisms

Baptism is an ancient sacrament of the Christian church and the rite of initiation into the Christian faith. Its use of water as a symbol for new life echoes the meaning of water in many cultures and traditions.
First Community Church baptizes infants, young children, and adults in the context of worship and in private services. Baptism is an outward sign and seal of the loving care of God for each person and a sacred covenant between family and congregation. Adults and adolescents who are baptized acknowledge their faith directly and for themselves their spiritual birth. For these persons the congregational covenant is one of fellow travelers on the path to God, caring for each other.

In general, baptism is performed by sprinkling. However, adults can choose to be baptized by immersion. This can be done by First Community Church clergy in another setting.
