The Burkhart Center is a unique vision of First Community providing safe, sacred space for reflection, connection, and personal and spiritual growth.

Welcoming individuals from any spiritual tradition, or from no tradition at all, we offer pathways and resources for each person’s unique journey toward well-being and wholeness.

We journey and grow together through engaging programs, practices, conversations, and community.

Spritual Searcher

Spiritual Searcher is The Burkhart Center’s signature programming, bringing over 60 leading voices in psychology, spirituality, religion, science and social justice to central Ohio.

We celebrated our 30th anniversary in 2019 with a word and song message of “Hope in Hard Times,” featuring author-educator Parker Palmer and singer-songwriter Carrie Newcomer.

Recent programs have included Care of the Soul author Thomas Moore and Piper Kerman, author of Orange is the New Black. Our day with famed “Momastery” blogger Glennon Doyle, the stimulating author of Love Warrior, drew over 1200 participants.

We’ve experienced Searchers as diverse as Otis Moss III and his Hip-Hop Gospel message, cosmologist Brian Swimme, world religions’ scholar Huston Smith, children’s author Rabbi Sandy Eisenberg Sasso, Sufi teacher Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, and progressive Christian scholars Marcus Borg, Diana Butler Bass, and John Shelby Spong.
