Senior Associate Minister (full-time)

First Community Church, Columbus, Ohio is seeking a Senior Associate Minister to work collaboratively with the Senior Minister to unite and lead us in our mission and values.  Qualified candidates will have a passion for loving, protecting, educating, and developing the youth and families within our community and with Mary Evans, our early childhood center and Camp Akita, our outdoor ministry education facility.

Position Summary: The role of the Senior Associate Minister is to work in harmony to support the Senior Minister, understanding of the Mission(s) and Values of the church and align key leadership teams with its mission.  Primarily the Senior Associate Minister shall provide leadership, theological vision, supervision and pastoral support to the Youth Ministry Department (Camp Akita Ministries, K-12 and NC administration). In the absence of the Senior Minister, the Senior Associate Minister will also provide supplemental support inclusive of leading program staff, staff meetings, and preach sermons on a regular basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Pastor in the overall planning and design of services that aligns with the  mission and vision of First Community Church
  • Develop goals and objectives for responsible ministry areas that are in line with the strategic plan overall of the church
  • Oversee, direct and lead all Youth ministries
  • Coordinate Youth ministries and Akita ministries
  • Communicate with staff, members, committees, and outside stakeholders as it relates to FCC Youth programs and ministries
  • Create and implement comprehensive vision and plan for Youth ministry & programs
  • Guide and encourage Youth Staff in their professional leadership development and personal spiritual journeys
  • Provide liturgical and worship support services weekly including preaching assignments
  • In the absence of the Senior Minister, provide leadership for staff meetings and program staff meetings
  • Function as second/back up Clergy to the Senior Minister in liturgical functions of the church
  • Assist Senior Minister with church local, national and regional outreach inclusive of mission trips
  • Attend Governing Board, program, staff and other applicable committee meetings
  • Marketing and public appearances on behalf of the church as requested by Senior Minister
  • Other duties as assigned

Reports to: Senior Minister

Direct Report: Executive Director of Akita, Director Of Early Childhood Ministries and Mary Evans Child Development Center, Director of K-12 Ministries and Director of North Campus Administration/Akita Operation

Qualifications: 

  • Preference for Master of Divinity degree
  • 10 years or greater experience in a mid-large size congregation specializing in Youth Ministry
  • Demonstrated liturgical skills including strong communications and preaching experience

Youth Program Coordinator/Camp Akita leadership team (full-time)

Position Summary:  First Community Church (FCC) and Camp Akita are seeking a conscientious, creative youth worker responsible for planning and implementing youth programs including weekly activities, retreats, service opportunities and mission trips.

Requirements:

  • Candidate must enjoy working with youth and be comfortable speaking to parents and other adults;
  • Good organizational and communication skills, speaking and writing;
  • Work with a team to provide open, inclusive and caring experiences for young people involved in the FCC youth program and campers at Camp Akita;
  • Must be comfortable with travel, including air travel;
  • Open-minded to concepts of progressive Christianity, spirituality and faith;
  • The applicant must to be in the Columbus area from September through May, working for FCC;
  • From the end of May until mid-August the person in this position will move to Camp Akita, one hour outside of Columbus, where he/she will work as part of the Camp Akita leadership team.

Qualifications: Bachelors or associates degree is preferred. Proven experience working with children, youth and adults.

Salary: This is a full-time salaried position with frequent evening and weekend responsibilities. Room and board provided during the camp season.  $29,000-$31,000 annually plus benefits.

Foundation Accountant (part-time, 10-15 hours a week)

Position Summary: Foundation Accountant (10 – 15 hours a week) is responsible for financial reporting for the Foundation. Maintains accounting system, ensure reporting conforms with generally accepted accounting principles, coordinated the annual close, budgeting in assistance with Director. Communicates with external financial auditors, provides technical accounting guidance on unusual/nonrecurring transactions. In addition, Accountant is responsible for accounting and reporting of endowments, funds and investments within the Foundation books and records. Strong emphasis on data management required.

Reports to: Executive Director

This position is a key player in the accounting and reporting of grant activity, investment, provides donor statements, research of transactions, payables, and overall fiscal and reporting. The accountant will work on special projects including researching and providing data to other stakeholders for key reports, implementing new accounting standards, drafting financial statement disclosures, reconciliations, data management, responding to external auditor requests, and maintaining the endowment and investment accounts.

Duties also include bank reconciliations, monthly financials, daily entering of endowments, funds, payables, and other fiscal items pertaining to the foundation accounting activities.

Software: Quick Books accounting software knowledge and use of Microsoft Office is required.
