Director of Music

Reports to:  Senior Minister

FLSA Status:   Exempt

Principals and Primary Responsibilities

First Community Church in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a full time Director of Music to continue a tradition of musical excellence within the spiritual life of the congregation. The Director of Music shall actively oversee and shepherd the growth of the various musical groups involving multi-generational musicians. The Director shall also regularly collaborate with members of the clergy and staff to develop innovative ways to enhance the worship experience through music.

The Director shall provide and/or coordinate direction for all adult choirs and supporting instrumentalists for all services, rehearsals and other musical offerings.  The Director will  supervise all paid music staff including the Worship and Arts Coordinator, organists, and choral section leaders.

Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours a week

Qualified candidate must be able to successfully pass a background check.

Physical Requirements: ADA category of Light Work-Ability to lift and manage office supplies/packages regularly up to 20 lbs. Includes bending, lifting, standing and sitting on the floor.
Visual Acuity Requirements: Worker required to have close visual acuity to perform activities of reading, inspecting, color coding, viewing computer screens, small parts, fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

Substitute Teachers

The Mary Evans Child Development Center is looking for part time teachers.  You will decide which hours work with your schedule.  You will work in a classroom with a team of two other full-time teachers.  This high-quality child care center is a wonderful environment for teachers and children.

Custodian Position

Reports To: Director of Facilities Ministry

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The custodian position requires previous knowledge of cleaning/custodial work.  The candidate must be reliable, trustworthy, responsible, team player, energetic, and takes pride in their work.  Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Cleaning-basic and deep cleaning of spaces
  • Flexible hours to accommodate the church schedule
  • Conduct and present themselves in an appropriate manner
  • Good Customer Service
  • Setting rooms with tables and chairs
  • Check Calendar/Communication/Email/Keep Records
  • Lift and Move
  • Observe Safety Rules-including making it safe for those on our property
  • General Maintenance/Repair
  • Groundwork as needed

Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours a week

Qualified candidate must be able to successfully pass a background check.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and manage supplies/packages, tables, chairs up to 65 lbs.  Includes bending, lifting, standing, climbing, ladder work, use of shovel, power equipment, maintenance supplies, and sitting on the floor.

Visual Acuity Requirements: Worker required to have close visual acuity to perform activities of reading, inspecting, color coding, viewing computer screens, small parts, fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
