What We Do
Heart to Heart is a choice food pantry serving the Central Ohio community eligible for assistance through The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). We provide clients the opportunity to select a three day supply of food and personal items for every member of the household in a dignified setting. Although we do not provide financial aid, we have on-site social workers that can help clients find alternative means of assistance, and several other service providers who visit the site of a regular basis.
We encourage the involvement of community volunteers in the day-to-day operations of the food pantry, believing we can put to use everyone’s time, talent and treasure. There are volunteer opportunities on each weekday and we welcome new volunteers daily with on-the-job training.
In 1986, a group of First Community Church members gathered to develop a congregation-wide mission project to put their faith into action. As a result, Project Adelphos was established connecting volunteers with needs in the community.
The name was changed to Heart to Heart to better reflect the goal of uniting individuals one-on-one. Through the commitment and passion of FCC members, volunteers, and the local community, Heart to Heart has grown from a congregational mission to a valuable community resource.
