Music by the Chancel Choir enhances the spirit for Sunday services of worship and many Liturgical holidays. There are at least four times throughout the year in which the Chancel Choir and soloists are joined by members of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra to provide special music services of worship.
Most worship services follow the Liturgical calendar and the Lectionary, but each one is carefully written and adapted to enhance a particular worship experience.
Soli Deo Gloria, an annual fall music service, is offered the month of October.
The Festival of Lessons and Carols, based on the traditional service from King’s College, Cambridge, England, is presented at the 9 and 11 pm services on Christmas Eve.
Wintersong is presented one of the first Sundays in Lent by the Chancel Choir and Orchestra as part of the morning worship services.
Morning Song concludes the choir year in June with the Chancel Choir and Orchestra presenting a festival worship experience.
In addition to these services with orchestra, the final week of Lent has a particular emphasis with music. Holy Week services start with special anthems by the choir on Palm Sunday. A service of Tenebrae and Holy Communion on Maundy Thursday and a special Good Friday service continue the walk through Holy Week, concluding with festival services of worship with choir, brass, and percussion on Easter Sunday.
