“We have made at least a start on discovering the meaning of human life when we plant shade trees under which we know full well we will never sit.” – Elton Trueblood
First Community Foundation of First Community Church is a not-for-profit organization created to encourage and receive gifts from people and organizations wishing to support the programs and ministries of First Community Church, Camp Akita, and other worthwhile projects.
Its purpose is to fund religious, charitable, scientific, literary, and educational endeavors.
It encourages friends and members of the church to include the Foundation in their financial and estate planning, and to establish funds within the Foundation to help fulfill its mission.
First Community Foundation is a separate 501c (3) public charitable corporation whose Board of Trustees is appointed by the church Governing Board.
The Foundation stands apart from First Community Church, yet by its side to assist the church in those areas of financial need not covered by the church’s annual operating budget or special capital campaigns.
It is the Foundation’s Sixtieth Anniversary. Last year, grants in excess of $325,000 were given ranging from new refrigerators at the Mary Evans Child Development Center to supporting a student in Ecuador to purchasing a tympani for worship.
The Foundation prudently invests its assets until grants are requested. All grant requests are considered within the mission of First Community Church.
The Foundation is a ministry of First Community Church and relies on donations to continue this level of service. Please consider including First Community Foundation in your financial and estate planning. While there is an education video as well as printed material about the Foundation, the best place to start is a phone call to me. I am also available to speak to groups. A gift to First Community Foundation is physical belief that First Community’s mission will continue long into the future. Join me in helping make that a reality.
