Y-Family: The mission provides food to less fortunate families while also providing an opportunity for our church families with middle school aged children to participate in an activity together at the YWCA Family Center. Once a month during the school year we gather dinner items and meet at the North Campus at 4:30pm.
We then drive to the Center in church vans, prepare and serve the food. Typically the adults do the food preparation and the children serve food. The food is served directly to the tables giving the children and the families more interaction then a buffet line. We typically have 6-8 adults and 8-12 children volunteer each month and typically serve 150 to 200 people.
The Y-Fam mission is sometimes the first experience our young people have with people who come from different economic circumstances. The mission also helps develop a passion and knowledge of service within our middle school students so they may help those less fortunate for years to come.
