Since 1983 the Refugee Task has assisted refugee families with their transition into life in Ohio and has evolved into a partnership with other community agencies who serve refugees. The task force provides emergency financial assistance for housing and transportation. The Refugee Task Force has also collaborated with Burlington Stores in their national coat for the past two years. Over two thousand coats have been collected and distributed to agencies working with refugees by task force volunteers. While the Refugee Task Force always needs money, it also welcomes new members. This is a ministry of action, where the needs change as lives change. This is an amazing opportunity to meet new people, learn about a different culture, and create lasting friendships.
The Refugee Task Force meets on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7 pm in the Library at South Campus, please consider joining us for a meeting to learn more!
The Refugee Task Force is seeking volunteers willing to help home-bound Iraqi women learn English. Current needs are for women living in the north, west, and southwest parts of Columbus. Materials will be provided.
Volunteers are also needed to collect and haul donated items for apartment setups.

Right now, the most urgent and helpful thing that individuals can do for CRIS is to contribute to our fundraising campaign that a group of volunteers started called “100K in 100 days for CRIS”. Individuals or groups can create their own fundraiser in less than 2 minutes, set a goal, and rally their friends and family to contribute. Our funding has been so critically impacted by recent changes to the resettlement program, and this is where we are directing volunteer interest right now. Here is a link to learn more and sign up: 100K for CRIS.
